The True Meaning of Bai'at “The pledge of Bai'at he took was based on these matters: that I make a sincere pledge from the bottom of my heart that until I enter the grave, I shall not go anywhere near shirk [associating partners with God]. Furthermore, I shall not tell lies, nor commit adultery, nor commit trespasses of the eye; I shall abstain from debauchery, dissipation, cruelty, dishonesty, mischief and rebellion. I shall not let myself be overcome by carnal passions, however strong they might be. These are essential matters for spiritual and moral reformation. Furthermore, in order to make spiritual progress, I shall offer the five daily Prayers regularly without fail, according to the commands of Allah and His Messenger. Moreover, not just the obligatory Prayers, but I shall also endeavour to offer the Tahajjud Prayer. Likewise, I shall send Durood upon the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), seek forgiveness for my sins daily, recall Allah Almighty’s favours with heartfelt love, and constantly praise Him. That he/she shall regularly offer the five daily prayers in accordance with the commandments of God and the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him); and shall try his/her best to be regular in offering the Tahajud (pre-dawn supererogatory prayers) and invoking Darood (blessings) on the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him); that he/she shall make it his/her daily routine to ask forgiveness for his/her sins, to remember the bounties of God and to praise and glorify Him. #JalsaConnect #JalsaUK2026 #MTAi
